Vegan Creamy Hummus Spread (oil-free)


Creamy delicious oil-free hummus ūüíú oh my.....
Our love for hummus is undeniable, it is nutritious, quick, delicious and so much fun to eat.
You can spread it on bread, you can drizzle it on a salad, you can wipe a piece of pita bread with it (the only real way to enjoy it if you ask me ūüėč), you can even eat it with a spoon.
One of the best foods to consume no matter what your diet (almost) is. Hummus is also pretty easy to make so you can play around with it and add various spices and flavors.

Chickpeas
Chickpeas are definitely my favorite legume, aside from being delicious and versatile, they are very beneficial to your health
Chickpeas are a very good source of fiber and protein, they are not high in calories, and contain several vitamins and minerals.

Tahini
Tahini is highly, highly nutritious, it is rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. Tahini is also full of antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties, and is also known for help with prevention of diabetes.

 Variations:

  1. Garlic hummus - Use the same basic hummus recipe but use 5-6 garlic cloves. I like adding 1 tbsp of died chives to this hummus.
  2. Beautiful beets hummus - Use the same basic hummus recipe: Blend into the hummus mixture, 1-2 small roasted peeled beets (use two for a really strong color).  
  3. Herbs and spices -  Use the same basic hummus recipe, add half a cup of fresh parsley, 2 tbsp fresh mint, add 1 tsp of black pepper, and add 2 garlic cloves (4 total),

Let's start:

Prep time: 10 min.
Difficulty: simple
Servings: 1 container (12 ppl).


Tools: Ingredients:
  Instructions:
  1. Drain the chickpea well but keep the liquid for later use.
  2. Place all ingredients in a strong blender and blend well, until smooth.
  3. Adjust the liquid amount to get the right texture, add aquafaba for a creamier texture or a tsp of raw tahini for more thickness.
  4. Taste and fix seasoning.
  5. Store in a sealed container for up to 5 days.
  6. Enjoy!
